No Beach Bootcamp Today

Sorry, but the rain is a little too much for Beach Bootcamp today.

Have a good weekend. Get out for a run/walk when the rain lets up. For a fitness challenge this weekend: 100 situps, 100 pushups, 100 squats, 5 minutes of plank. Break up the quantity in do-able #s throughout the weekend, for example 20 at a time/:30 seconds at a time for the plank.
Enjoy your weekend!

NYC to Cali.....I am back!

Well, the cold east coast winds have blown me back to sunny beautiful California! Fun trip, but GLAD to be back! I will be back to bootcamp tomorrow at 6am. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Heard you had some brisk workouts while I was away. Classes have been a bit smaller than normal which leads me to my next comment: busy times and cold weather may put your workouts on the back burner, but DON't let that happen. It's the busy times and stressful days when we need our workouts the most! You'll feel better and you'll be able to approach your lengthy "to do" list with a much clearer head and better attitude. As far as the cold goes....5 minutes in to the workout and you'll forget all about that!

Miss you all and I will see you soon!

Happy Holidays!

Yummy Butternut Squash Soup

I want to share a delicious soup recipe I was given and made last night for dinner. Super easy, super healthy and delicious!!

Ingredients:
2 butternut squashes
1 med yellow onion, chopped
1 organic chicken breast or tofu or tempeh
1 jalapeno, seeded and chopped
2 cups organic chicken broth or veg broth
1 TB organic coconut oil or 1/2 cup organic coconut milk
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Cut squash in half and coat with a little olive oil. Bake for 30+ minutes @ 375 or until soft.

Saute onion and chicken (or tofu or tempeh) together in bottom of your soup pan with a little olive oil or coconut oil. Cube cooked squash (it should be very soft from baking it) and add it to the pan. Add the broth, jalapeno pepper, coconut oil/milk and simmer for a few minutes. Add water if needed to thin.

Salt and pepper to taste.

YUM! Enjoy!

FYI on organic unrefined coconut oil:
Research now says,
"It may be surprising for you to realize that the naturally occurring saturated fat in coconut oil actually has some amazing health benefits, such as:"
-Promoting heart health
-Promoting weight loss, when needed
-Supporting your immune system health
-Supporting a healthy metabolism
-Providing you with an immediate energy source
-Keeping your skin healthy and youthful looking
-Supporting the proper functioning of your thyroid gland
"Coconut oil does not produce an insulin spike in your bloodstream. You read that correctly, Coconut oil acts on your body like a carbohydrate, without any of the debilitating insulin-related effects associated with long-term high carbohydrate consumption!"
